Kawa (les frères)

The Kawa Brothers are heirs to a musical tradition that has been passed down in the family for seven generations, and which originates in Rajasthan(Gokulpura). Mosin Kawa (tablas), Shahid Kawa (vocals and Santoor,  harmonium) and Yunus Kawa (sarangi) were born in Jaipur, and were trained by their father, Ustad Shabbir Ahmed, and their grandfather, the famous Ustad Bashir Khan. They count in their family of musicians like Ustad Sultan Khan, sarangi player known worldwide with which Yunus also studied. The Kawa Brothers gave many concerts, both in India and in Europe in recent years, Mosin Kawa, artistic director of the group, also has to his credit numerous collaborations with renowned artists from the jazz and world international music scene, as Andre Manoukian Khaled, Omar Sosa, David Murray, Vincent Segal.
